A bit deceptive given that I went with an 8sec shutter speed (& 200 ISO) for this pic, but it should be noted that I didn’t charge the lume at all prior to shooting.

I've had other watches costing much less with much longer-lasting lume (Seiko, Christopher Ward, Oris, etc.)[/strike] (see updates below).When examining the new Rolex Submariner Ceramic, you can appreciate that the Lume has been noticeable updated. This timepiece is also easily recognizable by it’s the size difference, known as the “Maxi-Dial”, which glows bluish-green in the dark, as opposed to the typical green.
Rolex presented Chromalight as a lume that could provide a powerful light even thousands of meters underneath the surface. Chromalight has a distinct blue tone that’s hard to miss, and Rolex soon switched to Chromalight on the Submariner, the GMT-Master, the Daytona, and the Explorer. Cool shot. It's beautiful but I can't help but be amused by the overkill rating. 1000ft. Completely impractical and pointless but wonderful engineering nonetheless. The fatter hour hand is another illusion of heft in this dive watch while yielding more space for lume material and overall better lume. Even in the dark the dial looks bigger.
