Higher level definitely helps with damage/hp but we've found the best mounts for doing treasure hunting was the Tiger. There is a way to allow your pets to attain any level and level up but takes fiddling with numbers we don't get in SP mode.You can actually change how every single stat . If we tame something and get it to come out to 39, it will gain levels like normal until it is maxed out, but at 40 or higher it just sits at 0.0 / 10 XP. I have tried admin spawning .
a rare and elusive animal called EA came to your island and stole their xp , your lucky this is all it wants today. sometimes it wants to steal your houses and boats , sometimes .So I found a level 116 pig in the FP and taming it. So it shot up to 173 but now it won't level any further, as in it's still sitting on 0xp and not accumulating at all even though it's still on "level 1" .
