I am sure there situations where any skill is useful, especially depending on the race. On reaching a threshold a player will be able to roll to level up, with the roll determining the options which are available. If your roll is 10 you can choose MA or AV, on 11 you can choose AG, and on a 12 you can choose ST. The act of min-maxing is different to cycling players to keep skills on positionals or building a small bench as other replies have mentioned. Min-maxing is where you drop/dont replace lost players and have a team of 5-6 high skilled players, with the rest being replaced with journymen as the rules dictate.

Requiring an assist for that 2d is huge, especially against lizards when your opponents already need all the assists they can get to block the sauruses you're clogging them up .
